MoonDance Pilates is a small and fully equipped studio located in the heart of Cary. At MoonDance you will train on state of the art Stott equipment including Reformer, Tower, Low Chair, Cadillac and Ladder Barrel. MoonDance Pilates offers a truly one on one Pilates session in a quiet, calm and relaxing atmosphere without the noise and distraction that can be found in the larger studios.
What to Wear
Yoga attire is great for Pilates but so are sweat pants/shorts and a tee shirt. The most important thing is to wear something that you are comfortable in and will allow you to move easily. Bare feet are fine and preferred by many people ( including myself ). If you would like to wear something on your feet, a ‘ballet type’ sock with non-skid bottoms is best. Regular socks can be slippery when working on the equipment.
What to Bring
Other than a positive attitude and a smile, there is really nothing else that you need to bring to your session. I have bottled water and small hand towels for your convenience and there is a lovely changing area with cubbies to store your things.
All sessions are 50 minutes starting from the scheduled appointment time. This gives me 10 minutes to clean up the equipment and a quick break before my next client. I understand that we all occasionally run late, but I do my very best to stay on schedule out of respect for every clients time, so thank you in advance for being prompt!
If you need to cancel an appointment, 24 hour notification is requested. This allows me time to offer this slot to another client.
Breath, Control, Movement
I was first introduced to Pilates in 2004 by a friend of mine. She was a horseback rider who had begun studying Pilates on the recommendation of her trainer. I remember her telling me about her Pilates sessions on the Reformer and how much it was helping with her riding. I soon began to see an incredible transformation in her body, her posture and the way she moved. I was fascinated and decided to give it a try. Despite my many years of dance training Pilates began to bring some new and amazing benefits to me. I felt stronger and more flexible. There was a huge improvement in my posture. I seemed to be moving in a better way and realized that some chronic neck and low back pain, which I had for years, was just about gone! Of course, I looked better too! My arms, legs and tummy muscles were leaner, toned and more defined.
In 2013, I decided to share my love of Pilates and belief in the method with others. I enrolled in the Teacher Training Program through The Pilates Center in Boulder, CO. I did my training at InsideOut Body Therapies in Durham, one of TPC’s certified studios and one of the premier Pilates studios in the area. At InsideOut, I trained under the guidance of Master Pilates instructors as well as Pilates trained Physical Therapists. I’ve had intensive training in Classical Pilates and I’m certified to teach Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Barrels. I am also a member of the Pilates Method Alliance.
I have a degree in Chemical Engineering from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn NY and recently left IBM after having a successful career that spanned Engineering, Management, Marketing and Business Development. In addition to Pilates, I love to cook, walk and hike, travel to new places near or far, knitting and jewelry design. My most precious times are spent with my family, friends and of course, my wonderful clients
